THE PORTO-FABRICS

what i love about porto are the countless fabricstores around. they are different from what we have in germany and berlin. there, i go to fleemarkets and junk-stores to find unusual textiles that tell me a story of a different time and different fashion. here, in porto i find them all along my way as i walk th hilly streets of the city...but they are dying! its old men behind old counters with such old fabrics that tell of times before cheap labor in asia threatened the low-skill-jobs in the textile-industries in portugal...well, for me, porto is the place to be the fabric-paradise a forgotten place that still preservs some living traces of its past...
yesterday i went fabric-shopping in one of those forgotten places, where an old man with no teeth and shaky hands is selling the last remaining pieces...i got some for you (see the pics)...and i will sew you something nice once i am back in berlin....

cities no.1//porto

hello hello, longtimenosee...
spending my recent time in the city of porto, portual, i missed out on writing here, as well as on sewing, collecting ugly things etc....
well, spending so much time abroad and far away from goodoldberlin, i thouht i might post some pics and interesting info on this city here....in case anyone is interested to know.

most of the stuff will be related to the things i do - hence, fabrics, sewingmachines, coffeedrinking, uglythings....
so here are some first impressions of the city: cathedral (sé), view over the city at night, street with lots of traffic, and chestnut-sellewr with lots of smoke...
